About Owensville, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Owensville, Indiana got its start in the early 19thcentury when Phillip Brisco filed the town plat. Unfortunately, a fire in 1876 ruined many of the lumber framed businesses in town square. The town was incorporated in 1881. Today, the town is small and quaint but full of culture and life. It is quiet but never boring, slow-paced but never dull. It is the perfect mixture of peaceful and progressive. The weather is also balanced in a similar manner with chilly winters and toasty summers. Kids are throwing leaves in the fall and picking flowers in the spring.
If you are looking for a way to enjoy that summer sun then you will want to check out the Patoka River National Wildlife Refuge and Management Area. Established in ‘94, the collection of wildlife refuges and habitats meanders along the Patoka River in both Gibson and Pike Counties. The refuge consists mostly of the main body refuge but there is also the Cane Ridge Wildlife Management Area managed by Duke Energy. 6,149 acres are owned by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Numerous types of birds nest in the areas, including the ultimate American bird – the bald eagle as well as the rare least tern.
Looking to get out and meet some great new acquaintances or network for business? Area communities are always putting on some sort of festivities to get excited about. In Boonville, The Parks Department holds a yearly Fishing Tournament in the warmth of May. In addition, the community of Newburgh hosts the Wine, Art & Jazz Festival and Fiddler Fest. If you want to live in, or visit, a place where people will be glad to see you on the streets then this is the part of the country for you. That’s a promise. You will not find friendlier citizens on the whole planet.
